Arjo, Ria Atayde: Parents ‘slowly getting better’ from COVID-19
Days after actress Sylvia Sanchez confirmed that she and her husband, Art Atayde, were positive for COVID-19, their children, actors Arjo and Ria, assured the public that the two are recovering and are in high spirits.
Arjo relayed his family’s gratitude for the overwhelming support via his Instagram post today, April 1. The actor also clarified that no person that his parents have come in contact with prior to their quarantine has shown symptoms of the disease.
“Although it is difficult and anxiety-inducing knowing that both our parents are positive with COVID-19, all the well wishes and get well soon messages have definitely uplifted our family — especially them,” the statement signed by the Atayde siblings stated.
Sanchez and her husband are also “slowly getting better” a week into their self-isolation and a week after their swab tests.
“Although it’s taking longer than their usual recovery time, we are happy to see them with their spirits still high,” they said.

“We ask that you continue to pray for our parents, our household that nobody else contracted it, every other individual and family dealing with this same ordeal,” they said. “[And] of course, all our frontliners who continue to risk their lives everyday for our safety.”
Sanchez is part of the growing list of celebrities who have contracted the virus.
“Love Thy Woman” actor Christopher De Leon also tested positive for COVID-19 but has been discharged from the hospital last week. Actress Iza Calzado was also reported to have gotten the virus. However, days after the announcement, Calzado’s manager said that the actress was well enough to go home and has tested negative for COVID-19. JB
