Vic Sotto gives props to son Vico, gov’t officials in fight vs coronavirus
MANILA, Philippines — Actor Vic Sotto is one proud dad as his son Vico has been praised for his work as Pasig City mayor during the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) crisis.
However, Bossing Vic was quick to add that credit must be given to each government official for their role in implementing the enhanced community quarantine, and called for a stop to politicking.
Speaking on DZRH’s “Showbiz Talk Ganern” with Gorgy Rula last Monday, the actor-comedian said that he agreed with his son’s sentiment that local government units (LGUs) should not be compared to one another.
“May nadinig akong interview sa kanya, maganda ‘yung sinabi niya na dapat wala nang kumpara-kumpara,” the “Eat Bulaga!” host said.
“Ako, personal, dapat tigilan muna ‘yung pulitika. Wala muna ‘yong pulitikahan. Isipin na lang natin kung papano tayo makakatulong sa kapwa.”

(With Vico, I think he’s doing his job. That is what he promised to his constitutents, that he would take care of them, and he’s doing a good job.)
“At hindi lang siya. Gusto kong bigyan din ng credit lahat ng ating mga namumuno, mula sa ating pangulo down to the barangay kagawad,” the elder Sotto claimed.
(And it’s not just him. I want to give credit to all our leaders, from the president down to the barangay councilor.)
He also heaped praises on health workers: “Dapat ‘yun ang mga gawin nating mga lodi, ika nga.”
(They should be the ones who are our idols, as they say.)
Vic also appealed for unity as he praised the government. “Of course, proud ako na he’s doing a good job pero sabi ko nga hindi lang naman siya pati ’yung ibang mga ating namumuno sa bansa.”
(Of course, I am proud that he’s doing a good job but as I said it is not just him, it is all our leaders.)
“Talagang ‘pag sama-sama, may bayanihan, kakayanin natin ‘to.”
(When we are together, when there is a spirit of community, we can get through this.)
Bossing Vic began a prayer brigade this week with wife Pauleen Luna and actor Alden Richards which airs on the “Eat Bulaga!” Facebook page.
Mayor Sotto has been lauded online for initiatives such as a mobile palengke to avoid crowding at public markets, the procurement of disinfectant drones and allocating over P150 million for food packs and vitamins.
