Remembering Eddie Garcia’s long list of recognition as an artist
MANILA, Philippines — At 90, veteran actor Eddie “Manoy” Garcia was arguably the most hardworking actor in the entertainment industry.
With hundreds of films under his name from the past seven decades of his career, his long list of recognitions proves that he is one of the pillars in Philippine cinema.
It is through his dedication, passion, and versatility that he reaped multiple awards not only as an actor but also as a director.
Just recently, the veteran actor was named Best Actor for his role in “ML” at the 2019 Gawad Urian Awards.
This was his third Gawad Urian award after winning Best Actor in his 2000 film “Deathrow” and receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2006.
The same role from “ML” also bagged him the Best Actor for this year’s Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Science Awards (FAMAS).

The actor also won several Best Director awards at FAMAS with films “Pinagbuklod ng Langit,” “Magdusa Ka!,” “Saan Nagtatago ang Pag-ibig?,” “Abakada…Ina,” among others.
The veteran actor’s latest Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entry “Rainbow’s Sunset” likewise garnered several honors.
The Joel Lamangan-helmed feature, which also stars Tony Mabesa, took home 11 awards at the MMFF 2018, including Best Picture with Garcia being awarded the Special Jury Prize.
Garcia also garnered international recognition from the same movie after he won Best Actor alongside Mabesa at the Worldfest-Houston International Film Festival in Texas, United States.
These are just some of the long list of achievements the veteran actor has received. Although he previously said he does not make movies for the awards, these are proof of his dedication as
an actor and his contribution to the entertainment industry.
