Ex-‘Darna’ Nanette Medved plays real-life hero, donates Marawi classrooms

MANILA, Philippines – Former “Darna” star Nanette Medved-Po has hung up her costume, but her recent initiative proves she can be a real-life superhero, too.

The actress-model turned social entrepreneur donated eight classrooms to war-torn Marawi City.

“So happy to be able to turn over 8 classrooms here in Marawi today,” Medved-Po said in her Instagram post.

“Thank you to the Maranao for your heart warming hospitality especially given the circumstances!” she added.

The donation was made possible thanks to Generation Hope, a social enterprise that donates its profits from selling Hope in a Bottle bottled water to build public schools all over the country.

Medved-Po founded Generation Hope in 2014 and now serves as its chairperson and president.

Actress Iza Calzado lauded Medved-Po saying: “You’re such an amazing woman! Congratulations to you and Team Hope!”

Apart from her social work with Generation Hope, Medved-Po is also part of the advisory board  of ABS-CBN’s social welfare program Bantay Bata and a national advisory council member of World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Philippines.
