‘Scared’ Christina Aguilera gets back on the road

Last year, Christina Aguilera embarked on her first world tour since 2008, much to the excitement—and relief—of her legions of fans around the world who have been raring to see her back onstage.
Many wondered why it took the pop star 10 years to get back on the road. One of the reasons, she revealed, was that she was “scared” she may not be able to balance motherhood and touring.
“My son (Max) is 11 now and I had not ventured back on tour, because I was so scared of it. I was like, ‘How do I juggle this? How do I do this?’” the powerhouse vocalist said in an interview with Galore magazine.
Max is Christina’s child with ex-husband, Jordan Bratman. She also has a 4-year-old daughter, Summer, with her current fiancé, musician Matthew Rutler.
Because she wanted more stability in her life, she accepted offers to be part of the reality talent search “The Voice,” where she served as a judge for six seasons.
Later on, she realized that sitting in a chair isn’t what she was really about—she wanted to “get off this sterile TV mode” she has been in the past couple of years.
“[I wanted to get] back to my roots and do what I do best,” said Christina, who wants to shift her focus back to her artistry. “[I wanted to do] what I love to do, which is creating and having a purpose and meaning.”—ALLAN POLICARPIO
