Tony Labrusca admits having ‘anger issues’
MANILA, Philippines — Actor Tony Labrusca did not beat around the bush and admitted that he has anger issues.
During Labrusca’s guesting in “Tonight With Boy Abunda” aired Tuesday night, he was asked to respond to assumptions about him made by netizens.
One of the assumptions read, “May bad temper! Parang yung nangyari sa airport dati.”
Labrusca responded: “I’ll just say legit because to be completely honest, I have kind of like an anger issue that I had a really hard time with growing up.”
The actor issued a public apology in January after venting out his “frustrations” over visa issues with the Bureau of Immigration (BI) officers at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

I don’t want to blame my family or whatever, but I just felt like growing up, I was the type of kid that always was in a fight or an argument, I always wanted my piece to be heard.”
“I didn’t feel like I was always being listened to and it got to a point where I was just this angsty kid who was just so angry with everything. It came to a point that I don’t even know why I’m so angry. You would just start crying and it’s just like I don’t even know why I’m so upset anymore,” he added.
But Labrusca assured that he is working on it by going to a life coach. He also shared he got checked by a neurologist.
“I actually go to a life coach and I went to a neurological, brain doctor because I wanted to know why I was so emotional,” Labrusca said.
“They told me that there’s a side of my brain which controls my emotions and it’s running on beta waves. Beta waves is like the highest frequency it can go so I don’t really have that much control over my emotions which I’m gonna be completely honest,” he added.
Labrusca also shared a lesson he learned from the airport incident and that is: “Calmer heads will prevail. It also taught me so much about humanity and the industry that I’m in and I don’t wanna complain because this is exactly what I signed up for.”
Meanwhile, the actor who was born in the United States to Filipino parents disclosed he is now a recognized Filipino: “So now I’m a recognized Filipino. It’s not the equivalent to having a dual citizenship because you won’t be carrying a Filipino passport, but when you travel you’re recognized as a Filipino.”
