Darren Espanto mourns death of former road manager
Kapamilya singer Darren Espanto mourned the death of his former road manager via social media on April 8.
Carmencita “Karen” Pelayo died on Monday after being stabbed, as per an exclusive report by ABS-CBN on April 9. Pelayo, along with friend Karwin Guevarra, was found dead in Guevarra’s house in Barangay Tabun, Angeles City, Pampanga. Another friend, “Regine,” was identified by authorities as the suspect.
“I still couldn’t believe the news of your passing, ate Karen. Nanginginig ako hanggang ngayon kasi di ako makapaniwala sa nabalitaan ko (I’m still shaking until now because I can’t believe what I heard),” Espanto said via Instagram on April 8.
“Actually, ayaw ko maniwala sa totoo lang. Sobra kasing masakit. Napakabuti mong tao (Actually, I don’t want to believe the news, to be honest. It hurts so much. You were such a good person).”

Article continues after this advertisement“You were more than a road manager to me,” he said. “Inalagaan mo ako at it itinuring na parang kapamilya mo at ganoon ka rin sa amin (You took good care of me and treated me like your own family). You are family to us…”
He also promised he would keep all their memories together, both the good and the bad, as well as all the lessons she taught him in the past.
“I love you so much and I’ll keep you close to [my] heart always,” said Espanto.
Singer-actor Kyle Echarri also paid homage to Pelayo on Instagram yesterday, April 9, where he shared photos of the two of them.
“Adieu Ate Karen,” said Echarri. “I am a firm believer of fate but what happened to you have left me with so many questions.”

“But for whatever it is that this tragedy imparts, I pray that your story, along with others who had the same kismet, will be an eye-opener for all of us of the realities we are now faced and may it drive us to do something to help make this world a better place to live in,” added Echarri.
Pelayo’s wake is being held at Pulong Ipil, Candaba, Pampanga, as per an update on her husband Mark John Hernandez’s Facebook account. Cody Cepeda /ra
