Regine Velasquez clarifies move to new network her own choice

Regine Velasquez clarified the decision to move to ABS-CBN was hers alone and not influenced by husband Ogie Alcasid’s own transfer to the network.
Velasquez had her contract signing on Oct. 17 to formally induct her as the newest member of the Kapamilya network. During the press conference, Asia’s Songbird took the opportunity to set the record straight regarding rumors on why she moved, as reported by Push.
“I just want to clarify because people have been blaming him that this was his idea, actually hindi. It is really my idea. I did ask for his help. I know tita Cory (Vidanes), I know all of them here pero I asked for his help if he can set up a meeting with them. But it was not his idea. It was really me who decided,” explained Velasquez.
She added, “Tsaka if you know me like my husband knows who I am, you know na gagawin ko kung ano ang gusto ko.”
(Also if you know me like my husband knows who I am, you know that I’ll do whatever I want.)
On her way to the press conference, Velasquez received an early welcome hug from fellow singer Sarah Geronimo, whom she ran into within the network compound.
Being a big, longtime fan, the Pop Star Princess didn’t let the opportunity pass to get a selfie with her idol. The snapshot was then shared on the Instagram account of Gerrome Ramos Esguerra on Oct 17. Esguerra also noted in the caption that the two singers’ dressing rooms were beside each other.

As for Velasquez’s former co-workers from GMA, which was her network home for 20 years of her career, she said they were supportive and happy for her.
Velasquez said, “They are happy, they are genuinely happy for me so ako I only have gratitude. I am so grateful to them. Twenty years ‘yun, inaalagaan nila ako. I am so grateful.”
The singer will make her first appearance under the Kapamilya banner on Oct. 20 in Sydney, Australia, for the special of Sunday music variety show “ASAP,” which will be held at the ICC Sydney Theater. Alfred Bayle /ra
