After letting slip earlier this month hubby Dingdong Dantes’ plan to run for public office in next year’s elections, Marian Rivera appears to be evasive about the topic.

“Anything related to politics would be better answered by my husband,” she told reporters at a recent press conference for “Kapusong Pinoy: Paskuhan at Kantawanan sa Anaheim,” an early Christmas event that will be held on Oct. 7 at The Grove of Anaheim in Los Angeles, United States.

But if Dingdong does go for it, the actress sees nothing wrong with it.

“Walang masamang mangarap, lalo na kung ikabubuti ng kapwa niya,” she pointed out.

In recent television interviews, Marian said that, while she wasn’t sure which position her husband was eyeing, she knew that Dingdong is “definitely running.”

However, the GMA 7 actress appeared to have backpedaled later on, saying she would respect whatever her husband’s decision was.

“I don’t have an idea yet where his mind is right now,” Marian was quoted as saying. “Perhaps we will have a heart-to-heart talk soon.”

Top priority

As for her show biz career, Marian said she’s unlikely to do a soap anytime soon, because motherhood remains her top priority at the moment.

“Our agreement still stands—Dong and I can’t work at the same time. Though our Zia (2-year-old daughter) has her grandmothers to look after her when we’re away, it’s much better if one of her parents is always there for her,” Marian said.

“So, for now, Dong is doing the work … he’s the man, anyway,” quipped the 34-year-old Kapuso star, who was last seen in the action series, “Super Ma’am.” “Then, next year, maybe I could take over.”

Mounted by GMA Pinoy TV, “Kapusong Pinoy” will have Marian sharing the stage with Ai-Ai delas Alas, Julie Anne San Jose and Christian Bautista.

“Our Christmas season starts early. And it’s something we all look forward to because it’s a time for happiness, gratefulness and kindness,” she said.

“I will surprise the fans with my song choices—uuwi silang tulala at bingi,” she added, laughing. “But no, I will focus on dancing, of course, which is my forte.”

As a daughter of a former overseas Filipino worker, Marian feels an affinity to fellow Filipinos living abroad.

“I look forward to the event, because it’s something I don’t usually get to do,” she said. “I want to make them feel my love and make them feel as if they were home.”
