John Legend-starring ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ slated for DVD release
For those who missed NBC’s broadcast of “Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert”, a concert DVD featuring the entire performance is due out in June.
John Legend starred in the title role of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical for the NBC television event, which aired on Easter Sunday in the United States. Other cast members included Sara Bareilles as Mary Magdalene, “Hamilton” actor Brandon Victor Dixon as Judas and rock legend Alice Cooper in a scene-stealing performance as King Herod.
Late last week, Sony Masterworks released a 2-CD soundtrack of the NBC television event, while announced the start of pre-orders for the upcoming live concert DVD ahead of a June release.
The DVD is set for release on June 15. JB
