Sarah Lahbati recounts ‘smooth’ birthing experience: ‘Iba talaga ang alagang Pilipino’
It seems the thought of going through labor is enough for some women to rule out pregnancy forever. In movies, the way childbirth has been interpreted always seemed to involve women screaming murder while trying not to tear their husband’s hair off. Then there’s the fear of stretching and tearing one’s self open, and sustaining permanent scars. While all these are valid fears, it’s safe to say that not all women go through difficult pregnancies. Some, like actress and second-time mommy Sarah Lahbati, may even call theirs a smooth experience.
“Being pregnant the second time around was much different, as was giving birth this time,” Lahbati wrote on her blog yesterday. “I’ve told you all about my pregnancy in these last few weeks, but even the birth was something I wanted to share. When you do it for the second time, there is a better idea of what to expect and what to prepare for.”
“I had a smooth labor and experience giving birth to Kai,” she said. “I delivered him via spontaneous normal delivery.”
Lahbati gave birth to baby Kai last week, March 21, her second baby with actor Richard Gutierrez. And while childbirth is no walk in the park, Lahbati shared that she had her doctor, nurses and hospital attendants to thank for making the experience easier on her end.
“Chard and I would like to thank my doctor, all the nurses, and attendants at the hospital who cared for Kai and I,” expressed Lahbati yesterday on Instagram. “I also have major props to my lactation consultant. Thanks to her help, Kai is breastfeeding like a champion from the onset.”

Meanwhile, big brother Zion is just as thrilled as Lahbati and Gutierrez. “He’s been looking after his little brother by singing to him and sharing with him his toys,” she shared. And while Zion doesn’t understand that Kai still has a long way to go before they can play together, Lahbati says it is still a heartwarming thing to see. JB
