WATCH: Zion Gutierrez rocks to the tune of Elvis Presley song for grandpa Eddie’s 76th birthday
When it comes to musical ability, the nature-versus-nurture debate will never see an end in sight. The belief that mastery requires 10,000 hours of practice still rings true today, but some scientists speculate that music may have been an evolutionary adaptation and a “music gene” may have arisen tens or thousands of years ago. Perhaps some people are just really born to perform.
Zion Gutierrez, son of actors Richard Gutierrez and Sarah Lahbati, is only four years old, and yet already shows a strong personality and a penchant for music and performing. Zion had a duet with his grandpa, veteran actor Eddie Gutierrez, patriarch of the Gutierrez family, during the latter’s 76th birthday last Feb. 6. In a video posted on the young boy’s official Instagram page, they were captured singing “King of Rock” Elvis Presley’s hit “Blue Suede Shoes”.
No doubt the genes were passed down from grandfather to grandson. Richard took to Instagram six days ago to greet his dad a happy birthday, sharing a throwback picture of Eddie meeting Elvis Presley himself in Las Vegas.
“Happy birthday to the coolest dad! Here with the king of rock Elvis Presley in Las Vegas. Thank you for leading by example and always reminding us that money is not the most important thing in the world,” wrote Richard. “It’s about living and experience life, doing good along the ways and cherishing your loved ones. We love you Dad, we honor you on your special day!”
Meanwhile, the doting dad shared a picture of Zion yesterday, this time of the young tot working the keyboard. Interestingly enough, the keyboard he uses in the video belongs to his mom Sarah, who is also musically-inclined, starting out as a singer in Starstruck years back.
