‘Bucket list’ of exceptional performers

POSADAS, LAZO, PANELO, DELA TORRE AND PATAG. Have more than lived up to their promise.

People sometimes ask us if we have a “bucket list” of wishes that we most want to check off before achieving true happiness and psychic satisfaction in our career.

Our answer is—yes, but it isn’t made up of the usual unforgettable experiences like going bungee-jumping, leaping off a plane, getting married underwater, getting trapped in an elevator with Uma Thurman, etc.

Contrarily, our most fervent wishes as a director have to do with working again with some excellent talents we’ve helped develop through the years, as well as effecting the comebacks of much-missed TV shows.

Included in the first batch are gifted musical-theater performers like Gigi Posadas, Angelique Lazo, Jograd dela Torre, Belinda Panelo, Bernardo Bernardo, Darling de Jesus, Bo Cerrudo, Rina Reyes, Beverly Salviejo, Malou de Guzman, Ayen Munji, Bobby Martino, Cynthia Patag, Bobby Ignacio and Jonjon Briones.

We worked with them early in their careers and were very impressed with their potential, which we did our best to help develop.

Our list used to be longer, but we were happy to work again some years ago with Isay Alvarez, Robert Seña and Tricia Amper in our “Katy!” revival, and with Isay and Robert in “Cory The Musical.”

Ditto for Dio Marco and Albert Jimenez in our “Pope Francis” play and Rito Asilo, Celine Fabie and Andy Bais in “Laugh Out Loud.”

Working again with “old” talents is important to us, because we want to “savor” how far they’ve come and progressed. In addition, we feel that we’ve similarly progressed as a director, so we’re eager to share the fruits of our own maturation with our artistic “children.”

Another major “bucket list” item for us is the comeback of shows that’s, in our view, can still do the arts and entertainment scene a lot of good.

Our list of longed-for show revivals are paced by “Ryan, Ryan, Musikahan” and “Abangan ang Susunod na Kabanata.”
