Cherry Pie Picache delivers in ‘Whistleblower’

It was more than a year ago when we visited the set of “Whistleblower” and talked to cast member Cherry Pie Picache, who plays Lorna, the mastermind of a pork-barrel scam. The movie begins its commercial run on April 6.

Picache, who was barely 9 years old when she began acting, marks her 25th year in the biz this year. She shares, “My craft is my passion. I can’t imagine doing anything else!”

Working with Nora Aunor has been both a pleasure and an honor for her.  “She’s one of a kind,” Picache says. “The caliber of her artistry is exceptional. Even when she’s just sitting quietly, you notice something in her—it’s magical! She inspires other actors to do well.”

When we went to the film’s premiere at the Newport Cinema last March 15, we were  captivated by Picache’s presence on the big screen.

The actress shares, “Lorna is the kind of person who started with simple dreams and wishes. When she began wanting a better life, that was when her problems started.”

The 45-year-old actress delivers a standout portrayal in “Whistleblower.” The lessons the film espouses are timely, she says: “In this country, we should always be aware of the difference between right and wrong.”
