Why ‘Heneral Luna’ and Lola Nidora’s ‘tamang panahon’ didn’t come

Even national heroes are not shielded from the “AlDub” fever.
Lola Nidora, the character played by comedian Wally Bayola in Eat Bulaga’s hit “Kalyeserye” segment, confirmed on Saturday that she and Filipino war-time general Antonio Luna had a secret past.
During the “Sa Tamang Panahon” event at the 55,000-seater Philippine Arena in Bulacan, Nidora revealed that Luna was one of her suitors.
Nidora described him as courageous, but added that he laughed like he had asthma.
Luna, the commanding general of the Philippine Army during the Filipino-American War, was the subject of Jerrold Tarog’s highly acclaimed historical epic “Heneral Luna,” which has been chosen as the country’s entry to the 2016 Academy Awards for the Best Foreign Language Film category.
In a post on Twitter, “Heneral Luna” said the right time did not come for him and Nidora as he was busy courting the Motherland.
“Pasensya na at hindi dumating ang tamang panahon namin ni Nidora. Busy ako sa panliligaw kay Inang Bayan,” a tweet from Heneral Luna’s official Twitter account read.

Nidora said she married a certain Miguel Da Explorer, but admitted that a man named Anselmo, who looked like Alden Richards, was “the one that got away” for her.
In a post on Twitter, Eat Bulaga host Joey de Leon said the “Heneral Luna” and AlDub fever happened at almost the same time supposedly because the two were both “history.” He previously said in jest that the biopic could have been a bigger hit if Richards and Maine Mendoza played cameo roles as Jose Rizal and Sisa, respectively.
As of 1:38 p.m., the hashtag for the event “#AlDubEBTamangPanahon” has reached 19.4 million tweets. Tickets for the show were sold out only two days after the event was announced last Saturday. YG/CDG
