Coco Martin brings FPJ classic back to life

/ 04:14 AM September 12, 2015

Coco Martin was presented to the entertainment press recently to launch ABS-CBN’s TV adaptation of “Ang Probinsyano,” an FPJ screen classic. The actor says he idolized Fernando Poe Jr. not only as an action king, but also as a real hero. He learned about the films of the movie king through the stories of his grandmother.

He learned more about Ronnie through the anecdotes of FPJ’s widow, Susan, and their daughter, Grace, who spoke of his generosity. Anita Linda told Coco how surprised she was when a television set was delivered to her home—because FPJ learned that the actress had no TV set! There were other acts of kindness that the actor didn’t want publicized.

In “Ang Probinsyano,” Coco plays twins, Ador and Gardo, who are separated by fate, but reunited by their dream to serve the country—as policemen. The cast also includes Albert Martinez, Maja Salvador and Susan Roces as the twins’ grandmother.
