Pokwang to star in new TFC family rom-com ‘Ms Edsa Woolworth’

REDWOOD CITY, California — After winning international critical acclaim for her powerful performance in the drama, “A Mother’s Story,” which garnered 18 FAMAS nominations in 2012, actress-comedienne Pokwang will star in TFC@theMovies second film offering, “Ms Edsa Woolworth.”

Shooting for the new family romantic comedy film start in May in the U.S., according to film director John-D Lazatin, who also received a FAMAS nomination for his direction of “A Mother’s Story.”

Asked why Pokwang was chosen again to star in TFC’s new movie, Lazatin replied, “Pokwang is one of those rare gifted, versatile actresses who is very relatable.  Moviegoers identify or empathize with her characters,”

Lazatin added, “Her on- and off-screen personas are also very positive that she’s able to inject humor and lightness even in the face of most dire challenges in life.  She projects the character of our overseas Filipinos that TFC serves worldwide.”

While remaining tight-lipped about details of the exciting film project, Lazatin said that “Ms Edsa Woolworth” will have a strong Filipino and American cast.

Pokwang plays Edsa (short for Epifania de los Santos) whose mother remarried an American named Frank Woolworth.  The comedy focuses on the interracial relationships of three adult Filipinos taking care of their white stepfather.
