‘In Nomine Matris’ goes to Spain

/ 08:38 PM June 09, 2013

Filipino-American filmmaker Will Fredo’s “In Nomine Matris” was chosen as the closing film of the ongoing 7th Ciclo de Cine y Flamenco in Sevilla, Spain, which ends July 4. The event is “a yearly celebration of flamenco films” set in the birthplace of the dance in Andalusia. Said the filmmaker, one of the honorees in last year’s Inquirer Indie Bravo! Tribute: “I’m nervous to screen my film in Andalusia, the heart of flamenco. But to be invited to this film fest is very humbling, too. It allows us to highlight topnotch flamenco artists from the Philippines.”

The fest is organized by the Insituto Andaluz del Flamenco and the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Government of Andalusia, with the support of the Centro de Iniciativas de la Universidad de Sevilla and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization.
