Actress Alma Concepcion shared that she is heartbroken after she and her son Cobie were bit by their pet dog Sniper, prompting her to make some drastic changes to how they interact with the animal.

In her Facebook Story, Concepcion shared a video of herself while at a clinic as she was having her anti-rabies shot, wherein a faint gash could be seen on her left cheek. She also showed a clip of what seemed to be a dog with a mixed breed, with black coat and floppy ears.

“Yesterday morning, I was cuddling my dog and then he bit me. It was my first time to be bitten (but prior to this, he also bit my son Cobie when Cobie accidentally leaned on to him). I was just hugging him and resting my head on his shoulder when this happened. My dog (Sniper) grew up with me since he was 4 months old (and now he is 4yo),” she narrated.

The “Lolong” actress said the biting incident was a learning experience for her household, even as she noted the good behavior of her dog.

“Lesson for us here in the house, [is] that we won’t cuddle him anymore. Probably we can just pet him and give him some caressing but definitely no more hugging from now on. I’m sad about this change. But over-all he is kind. He’s potty trained and with the looks of it, he is very sorry (he doesn’t jump on my bed anymore),” she stated.

“He used to sleep with me on my bed but I think I have to stop that also since this might happen again if my legs accidentally move while I’m asleep. By the way, he is vaccinated,” added the actress.

Concepcion then took the opportunity to educate her followers on rabies vaccination, especially those that are freely provided by the government.

“Getting a vaccination after a bite IS NOT an emergency thing. As long as you get your shots as soon as you can (getting within 24 hour period is NOT TRUE at all), is fine. My bite was 2:24 am on Sunday & I got my shots at 9am Monday. So guys, don’t panic, you can get your shots even the next day or two. As long as it is before the 10th day,” she explained.

“And of course the government has free injections, just google the one in your district. In QC, they have one in each district. So yes, my son & I got ours for FREE! Hayyyyy Sniper talaga hope these infos help!” the actress concluded her post.

Netizens pitched in the comments section to ask if Concepcion had his dog checked in the vet for “possible discomfort” as “dogs don’t normally bite without reason.”
