MANILA, Philippines — Actress Nadine Lustre has endorsed former Senator Leila de Lima and her party-list group Mamamayang Liberal for the May 2025 mid-term elections.
In a video release and social media posts on Thursday, Lustre vouched for De Lima, who she said suffered from injustice in the past administration. De Lima is the lead nominee of Mamamayang Liberal party-list, while former representatives Teddy Baguilat and Erin Tañada will be her co-nominees.
Photos were also released showing Lustre flashing a high-five sign with one hand and a thumbs-up with the other, indicating the number 6, which is the number for the ML party-list in the ballot. In others, she was with de Lima, showing various poses.
“Real talk. Sawa na ba kayo? Sawa na sa mga abusado sa kapangyarihan? Sa mga nasa pwesto na hindi marunong magpaliwanag kung saan napunta ang pera ng bayan? At yung drama? Okay lang sa pelikula at TV. Pero ‘pag sa gobyerno na? Ibang usapan na ‘yan. Nakakapagod. Pero, may laban tayo.” Lustre said in the video.
(Real talk. Are you fed up? Fed up with the abuses of power? Of those in positions who don’t know how to explain where the money of the people went? And the drama? That’s okay in movies and TV. But in government? That’s another story. It’s tiring. But, we have a fight.)
“Si Manay Leila De Lima, ilang taong kinulong nang walang kasalanan, pero lumaban. Ngayon, kasama niya ang ML party-list para ipaglaban ang katarungan, pananagutan at tunay na representasyon,” the politically vocal actress further said.
(Manay Leila De Lima was wrongly imprisoned, but she fought. Now, she’s with the ML party-list to fight for justice, accountability and genuine representation.)
Lustre’s endorsement aligned with her previous backing of former Vice President Leni Robredo for president in 2022.
