Maris Racal and Anthony Jennings continue to be “professional” with each other despite being embroiled in a cheating scandal last year, which was revealed by the latter’s non-showbiz ex-girlfriend Jamela Villanueva in December 2024.
In an interview with ABS-CBN News,’ which was posted on its YouTube channel, Racal said she and Jennings are on “good” terms, and they make sure to be professional on the set of their ongoing action drama “Incognito.”
“We’re good,” said the actress-singer, when asked if she and her onscreen partner are “friends” behind the scenes.
Following her admission last December of their foiled relationship, Racal said she tried to distance herself from the actor while promoting their MMFF movie “And the Breadwinner Is…” and TV series “Incognito”.
Racal said that they are “supportive of each other” while filming their scenes, noting that they make sure to stay focused on their respective roles. She also pointed out that she’s “more in tune with God and the universe” after their controversial involvement, noting that it took a lot of inner work within herself.
“Right now, sa set, we’ve been more supportive of each other when it comes to the scenes. We see to it that we make the scenes as natural as possible still like the scenes we do in ‘Can’t Buy Me Love,’” she said.
“We still have the energy on set and focused kami sa (we’re focused at) work. Professional,” Racal further explained.
On the other hand, Villanueva admitted in an event that she is still in the process of healing following her controversial split with Jennings, as well as his involvement with Racal.
Racal remains busy with her ongoing activities in the Philippines and outside of the country despite the controversy. She recently graced the red carpet of the 75th Berlin International Film Festival in Germany as the lead actress of the Antoinette Jadaone-helmed “Sunshine.”
As the film continues to make rounds globally, Jadaone clarified to reporters in October 2024 that it will be submitted to international film festivals before premiering in the Philippines.
Racal and Jennings are also the lead stars of the upcoming romantic comedy film “Sosyal Climbers,” set for a February 27 premiere on a streaming platform.
