Jessa Zaragoza contracted a “full blown influenza,” lamenting how she has been sick since the latter part of January and has been experiencing symptoms she “never experienced before.”
Through her Instagram page on Thursday, Feb. 13, the singer recalled how she started feeling unwell last Jan. 22 but had to power through as she had work commitments to attend to.
“By Jan. 24, I had completely lost my voice. The diagnosis was an upper respiratory infection, which as you all might know, is pretty common lately. I was prescribed antibiotics for it and they kicked in just in time for me to do the the Vehnee Saturno show on the 31st,” she said.
“I thought I was on the road to recovery, and figured this was just my schedule catching up to me (which I really wasn’t complaining of since I’m grateful for a very unexpectedly busy month),” she continued. “But then more symptoms came popping in left and right; sore skin, and body aches.”
Zaragoza then thought that the symptoms might be caused by urinary tract infection (UTI), which prompted her to undergo tests.
“The tests concluded otherwise,” she said.” Then the dry cough started as I worked through the last of my commitments on Feb 3rd, followed with the on and off fever that started the next day. It seemed I was gonna get worse before I would get better.”
“Before I knew it, I contracted a full blown flu with every symptom you can imagine, like I’d never experienced before through all my years of adulthood,” she continued.
Zaragoza even quipped how she couldn’t help but relate to the lyric “Parang ‘di ko yata kaya” from her hit song “Bakit Pa?”.
The singer said she has been focused on getting back on track with her immune system, thanking those who have been sending well-wishes to her.
“Let’s all take this as a lesson to listen to your body and its needs. We only have one so we best take care of it,” she concluded. “Health is wealth after all.”
