The actress wrote a lengthy post on her Instagram page on Tuesday, Jan. 28, sharing moments from her 63rd birthday celebration and opening up for the first time about Savellano’s death.

“I pondered upon the recent events in my life… starting the year with the death of my husband which was not only the most painful experience in my life, but the most traumatic! Watching my husband struggle for dear life and helplessly die in front of me, is one thing I wish no one would ever experience,” she said.

Bonnevie remembered Savellano, who was agriculture undersecretary, as a good person and a devoted public servant who touched many lives.

“I wondered why him and not me?” she lamented. “So why then did I have to be left behind?”

She admitted she initially questioned God as she felt “betrayed and angry” after losing her husband. Bonnevie then enumerated the several times she felt God’s answers to her prayers, filling Savellano’s absence with gestures from her family.

“The morning of my birthday, I was crying, hoping to see the usual tulips my husband would wake me up to; but God provided me a wonderful bouquet of orchids from Helen Gamboa, an ex sister-in-law I haven’t seen or spoken to in a long time,” she continued, referring to the wife of Tito Sotto, brother of her former husband Vic Sotto.

Bonnevie also gushed over moments with her children and grandchildren, saying their presence brought her comfort.
