BTS’s J-Hope has donated 100 million won ($68,000 or P3.96 million) to support the victims of the Jeju Air flight crash at Muan International Airport.
The Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association announced that J-Hope contributed 100 million won to aid those affected by the tragic accident at Muan International Airport in South Jeolla Province.
J-Hope reportedly stated, “Upon hearing about the accident, I decided to make this donation to offer even a small measure of support to the bereaved families. I extend my deepest condolences and sympathy to all those affected by this heartbreaking tragedy.”
As a member of the “Hope Bridge Honors Club,” a group of high-value donors, J-Hope has consistently contributed during national disasters, including a donation of 100 million won for flood relief in 2023.
J-Hope completed his military service on Oct. 17, 2024, becoming the second BTS member to be discharged.
K-pop boy band ZE:A member Yim Si-wan, who recently starred in the second season of “Squid Game,” also donated an undisclosed amount to the same organisation.
“I express my deep condolences and sympathy to the bereaved families who lost their beloved family members due to the unexpected tragedy,” he said in a press statement on Dec 31.
South Korean sports announcer Lee Na-yeon and rapper DinDin also donated 10 million won each to the Korean Red Cross, while Jin of K-pop girl group Lovelyz also gave a sum of money to the charity.
According to Korea JoongAng Daily, South Korean comedienne Park Na-rae, who was born in Muan, donated money to the Community Chest of Korea.
