LOOK: Janine Gutierrez dazzles at 2024 Tokyo Film Festival for ‘Phantosmia’
Filipina actress Janine Gutierrez graced the red carpet of the 2024 Tokyo Film Festival for the Japanese premiere of their film “Phantosmia.”
Gutierrez donned a deep purple gown with a V-neckline front and an open back for the red carpet of the 37th Tokyo International Film Festival.
“So happy to be here to represent the film and so grateful for Tokyo IFF’s hospitality. Hope you can catch our screenings,” she wrote in part of her caption.
Tokyo IFF is set to run from Oct. 28 to Nov. 6 where Ridley Scott’s Gladiator II will make its Asia premiere at the event the day before on Nov. 5. Hollywood stars Paul Mescal, Denzel Washington, Fred Hechinger, and Connie Nielsen are all expected to attend the Tokyo screening.
Meanwhile, “Phantosmia” stars Gutierrez, Ronnie Lazaro (Hilarion Zabala), and Hazel Orencio (Narda), among others. It recently debuted at the 2024 Venice International Film Festival, Busan International Film Festival, and Vienna International Film Festival.

The film is set to have its Philippine premiere on November 10 as part of this year’s QCinema International Film Festival lineup.
Aside from the aforementioned, “Phantosmia” also features Paul Jake Paule, Arjay Babon, Dong Abay, Allen Alzola, Heart Puyong, Mitzi Comia, Vince Macapobre, Toni Go, Lhorvie Nuevo, and Edrick Alcontado.
Directed by renowned filmmaker Lav Diaz, the film follows Hilarion Zabala (Lazaro), who’s suffering from a mysterious, recurring olfactory problem. A psychiatrist suspects a case of phantom smell, possibly caused by a deep psychological fracture.
As part of his healing process, Hilarion must go back and deal with the darkest currents of his past life in the military service and must also confront the horrific realities of his present situation.
Meanwhile, Gutierrez also stars in the revenge drama series “Lavender Fields,” opposite Jericho Rosales and Jodi Sta. Maria.
