Jonathan Roumie, who portrayed Jesus in the Christian historical series “The Chosen,” is set to visit the Philippines in November to express his gratitude to Filipino fans for their support.
On Monday, Oct. 21, Roumie announced his upcoming visit via a Facebook video, saying he will grace a live fan event in the Philippines on Nov. 22 in Mandaluyong City.
“Mabuhay Philippines, I’m Jonathan Roumie, I portray Jesus in The Chosen. I have some very exciting news for you. We are going to have a live fan event in the Philippines this November 22nd. Yes, I will be there personally. I want to thank you so much for your love and support for our show, and I’m so excited to meet our Filipino fans. You know we have a lot planned for the Philippines, so be sure to follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok @thechosentvph for updates,” he said.
The fan meeting will include a special screening of the holiday special “Christmas with the Chosen: Holy Night,” a retelling of the birth of Jesus as seen through the eyes of Mary and Joseph.
Meant to be seen in theaters, the new remastered feature will also include a video message from “The Chosen” creator and director Dallas Jenkins, encouraging reflection on the deeper meaning of Christmas, along with performances from Andrea Bocelli and his son Matteo, and more.
The Feast Choir will also be featured in the musical performances as they aim to add a uniquely Filipino touch to the celebration. Fans can also expect to be able to take some “selfies with Jesus” at the mall.
As part of the pre-screening program, the attendees will have an up-close moment with Roumie, who is set to walk the teal carpet.
“The Chosen” is a drama series based on the life of Jesus (Roumie), seen through the eyes of those who knew him. Set against the backdrop of Roman oppression in first-century Israel, the series dives into an authentic and intimate look at Jesus’ revolutionary life and teachings.
