“Starstruck” and “Pinoy Big Brother” alum Jesi Corcuera—who goes by the pronouns he or him—announced that he’s pregnant with his first child and looked back at how he became a parent.
Corcuera announced that he’s expecting his first child on Instagram on Saturday, October 5, saying he wanted to become a parent since 2018.
“2018 nung simulan kong planuhing magkaroon ng anak. Pero that time, maraming struggles, lalo na financially and hindi rin naman biro ang gastos sa unang plano kong mag-IVF. Hanggang sa bumalik sa buhay ko si Cams pati ang mga bata. Naisip kong parang sign na yata ito ni Lord sakin,” he said.
(I started planning to have a child in 2018. At the time, I had a lot of struggles, and my initial plan of getting pregnant through IVF cost money. Until my partner Cams and her children returned to my life. I believe that it’s a sign from the Lord.)
Corcuera shared that being a father to Cams’ children helped him in preparing to be a parent. He also disclosed that being a father through pregnancy was his “last option” to having a child of his own.
“Fast forward ngayong taon, di ko in-expect na mabubuo siya through my last option na ako ang magdadala pero sobrang thankful ako na pinagkaloob ito ng Diyos sa akin. Hindi naging madali ang prosesong ito para sa akin kaya sana hindi niyo rin ganun kadaling husgahan kung anong nakikita niyo ngayon,” he added.
(Fast forward to this year, I didn’t expect my child to be formed through my last option — where I’ll carry it myself. But I’m very thankful that the Lord gave this blessing to me. This process wasn’t easy for me, so I hope you won’t judge what you’re seeing now.)
The “Starstruck” and “Pinoy Big Brother” alum also stressed that having children has been his longtime dream.
“Simple lang naman ang gusto ko, yung magkaroon ng matatawag kong sariling akin,” he said. “Sa lahat ng desisyon ko sa buhay, malaki ang naging parte ng mga bata at ni Cams sa kung ano ako ngayon. Samahan niyo kami sa bagong journey ng buhay kong ito. At sana kapulutan ng aral at inspirasyon ng marami.”
(What I want is simple, to have kids that I can call my own. In all my decisions in life, Cams and her children are a huge part of who I am now. Come join me in my new journey. I hope this will serve as a lesson and inspiration to many.)
Corcuera opened up about sustaining chest scars from a chest surgery in October 2021. He, however, remained tightlipped when he came out as a trans man.
