Kim Chiu was in tears as she dedicated her win at the 2024 Seoul International Drama Awards to the late Deo Endrinal, saying she wouldn’t be where she is without his guidance.
The actress paid tribute to the late Dreamscape Entertainment head – who died last February – during her acceptance speech for the Outstanding Asian Star award, as seen on the award-giving body’s YouTube channel on Wednesday, Sept. 25.
“I am truly overwhelmed to be standing here tonight with pride and honor. I want to express my gratitude to [the] incredible people who made this moment possible,” she said.
Chiu made mention of her supporters, ABS-CBN, Star Magic and its head, director Lauren Dyogi, who accompanied her to the event and who, she said, has always believed in her.
She further thanked the team behind her TV series “Linlang,” as well as the Dreamscape Entertainment family. “Without your hard work, guidance, passion and vision, none of these would be possible. I share this honor with every single one of you.”
“Lastly, I want to dedicate this honor to the person who is no longer with us — my boss, my mentor and a dear friend Sir Deo,” she said, breaking into tears.
“He was the one who always pushed me to be my best, and he was the one who always [guided] me to do the best that I can be through hard work and led with kindness,” she continued. “I wouldn’t be standing here tonight without your trust, guidance and the opportunities you gave me.”
Chiu also thanked Seoul International Drama Awards and regarded the accolade she received as a “dream come true.”
The Seoul International Drama Awards was held at the KBS Hall in Seoul.
