Armie Hammer announced that he’s selling his beloved truck because he could no longer afford gas following what appeared to be a Hollywood snub amid cannibalism allegations against him that surfaced over the past years.
The “Call Me By Your Name” star took to Instagram to open up about his financial struggles, revealing that he’s selling his pickup truck to save money.
“Since being back in LA, I have put about four or $500 worth of gas in (my truck), and I can’t afford it. I can’t afford the gas anymore,” he said as he stood outside the car showing it off.
“I bought this in 2017 as a Christmas gift for myself. I have loved this truck intensely and taken it camping and across the country multiple times and on long road trips, and I took it for one last road trip,” continued the actor.
He then slid inside the truck to reminisce about some good memories and shared that he has a “new, tiny car” to use.
“This truck took the kids home from the hospital and all that stuff. Amazing trips, but you know what? That’s okay. I’ve got a new car. It’s tiny. It’s a hybrid. I’m probably going to put about 10 bucks of gas in it a month.”
Hammer, who celebrated his birthday on Aug. 28, declared that he’s starting a new life in a new car and in a new apartment in Los Angeles in California, describing it as “new beginnings.”
While speaking to his car, he said, “Thank you very much. You have gotten me a long way and I appreciate it all. I hope you take as good care of the next person,” as he went on to add that his kids are not going to be happy with him selling the truck.
The “Death on the Nile” actor concluded the video by saying, “I just keep telling myself that parking is going to be easier and gas is going to be cheaper.”
In 2021, Hammer was battered with misbehavior issues after his ex-girlfriend Courtney Vucekovich came forward alleging that “their romance was like dating a wannabe Hannibal Lecter,” revealing that the actor “wants to break her rib and barbecue and eat it.”
The same year, Hammer was then accused by another woman of sexual assault during a four-hour incident that she claimed occurred in 2017. The anonymous woman alleged Hammer of “mentally, emotionally, and sexually” abusing her during their on-and-off four-year relationship.
At the time, the actor was dropped by his lined-up projects in Hollywood as well as by his talent agency.
In 2022, a three-part documentary series, “House of Hammer,” was released, highlighting the allegations against the actor. The series featured two of Hammer’s exes who recounted their past experiences with the actor and shared troubling text messages and voice notes they say they got from him.
In 2023, Hammer broke his silence against the allegations and denied any criminal wrongdoing, yet he admitted to “being emotionally abusive toward his ex-partners.” At the time, he also opened up for the first time about how he was sexually abused as a teenager.
Hammer was previously married to Elizabeth Chamber; they share two kids together.
