Zsa Zsa Padilla undergoes third kidney operation

Singer-actress Zsa Zsa Padilla bared her long battle with UTI (urinary tract infection) after she had her third kidney operation.
Padilla took to Instagram to share photos of her lying in a hospital bed with her family members, including one with her daughter, actress-host Karylle, who paid her a visit.
The singer then recalled the first time she had a surgery to combat her problem with her “defective left ureter.”
“For many years, I’ve had endless battles with UTI and taking oral antibiotics became routine. They had no proper machine in the Philippines while I was growing up and doctors only saw my real problem in 2007,” she shared.
“So, my first surgery to correct this problem was 17 years ago. Right after filming Zsa Zsa Zaturnah in 2007, I underwent open surgery to finally correct my left ureter. It was tapered and reinserted in my bladder,” she continued.

The “Black Magic” actress shared that when she was in the United States, she was “advised not to have surgery.” It was only when she came to Singapore recently that she was allowed to do a certain procedure.
“They told me they could do laparoscopic surgery to correct my problem. We set a date and now I’m still in the hospital recuperating. I’m glad they didn’t open me up. And of course, my case wasn’t an easy one since I had already been operated on before. And there are scar tissues to deal with,” she said.
“My body is a map of all the surgical battles it’s been through. This is my third surgery with regard to the left side of my kidney. In 2012, after Dolphy died, I had a growth taken out so a partial nephrectomy was performed on my left kidney,” added the actress.
Padilla then extended her gratitude to the people who prayed for her recovery.
“I love you all and wish to thank those who’ve said prayers for my surgery. And to those reading this, kindly say a prayer that everything will be alright and that I will have a quick recovery,” she expressed.
Meanwhile, Padilla’s estranged ex-husband, Dr. Modesto Tatlonghari, recently died. Karylle, who announced her father’s death on Aug. 13, didn’t disclose when or how old Dr. Modesto was at the time of his death.
