Pepe Herrera called out a TikTok post claiming that he had died. The latest celebrity to be victimized by a death hoax, the “My Sassy Girl” actor shared a screenshot of a TikTok post on his Facebook account which showed a black-and-white image of him with the text, “Pepe Herrera 1987-2024 Rest in Peace.”

Herrera called out the creator of the death hoax and informed his followers that it’s not true, saying, “Buhay na buhay po ako at tatanda hanggang 100 years old, God Willing. Sa gumawa nito, God bless you, and may the Lords of Karma guide you.”

In January, the “Rak of Aegis” star opened up about his long hiatus from show biz, citing burnout and anger issues as having affected his attitude on set and making him decide to consider seeking professional help.

“Simply put, burnout. Umabot ako sa punto na, I didn’t know at that time that it was a manic disorder already. I felt invincible, and I could do everything. Nagpapatawa one moment, mag-i-snap at magagalit one moment,” he recalled.

In 2017, Herrera took a hiatus from show biz. After his return, he received acclaim for his side role in the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2023 official entry, “Rewind,” for which he took home the Best Supporting Actor on the awards night of the festival.

Meanwhile, aside from Herrera, other Filipino celebrities have been victimized by death hoaxes, including Michael V, Sunshine Cruz and Ogie Alcasid, among others. Also, recently, TV host Kim Atienza addressed his own death hoax.

Atienza shared a screenshot of the TikTok post, an art card purportedly posted by GMA Integrated News that claimed that he had died. He wrote on his Instagram post, “Nope. Not today.”
