Niño Muhlach defends dad Alex’s romance with 30-year-old partner

Niño Muhlach came to the defense of his father, veteran actor Alex Muhlach, days after the latter was reported to be in a relationship with a 30-year-old non-showbiz girlfriend.
Alex, who will turn 82 on June 9, was reported by an entertainment news website to be romantically involved with a certain Mae Fortaleza, who is 52 years his junior. The couple are said to have been together since 2014.
Their relationship has since sparked mixed reactions from netizens on social media, with many criticizing their age gap.
But on Facebook on Wednesday, June 5, Muhlach defended his father, a veteran actor from naysayers on social media, while sharing the post of the entertainment outlet.
“Dear bashers… di ba kayo natutuwa na may [dalawang] tao na nagmamahalan? Kami nga mga kamaganak eh natutuwa para sa kanila eh. Di naman kayo apektado di ba? Good vibes lang,” he wrote.
(Dear bashers, aren’t you happy seeing two people love each other? Our family and relatives are happy for them. You’re not affected, right? Good vibes only.)

“Nakaka depress at malas sa buhay when u talk bad about other people u dont know. Be happy guys! Isa pa hindi naman namin magagawa yung alagang ginagawa nya sa Daddy ko eh. This is the happiest I have seen my dad. Bigat sa buhay pag puro ka-nega-han,” he said.
(It’s depressing and unlucky if you’re one to talk bad about other people you don’t know. Be happy, guys! One more thing, we wouldn’t say the things you’re telling to my dad. This is the happiest I have seen my dad. Living a life with negativity is so heavy.)
Muhlach, who made a name for himself as a child star in the 1970s and 1980s, was born to Alex and Rebecca Rocha, along with five other siblings.
He recently made headlines after selling one of his Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS) trophies earlier this month, saying he couldn’t take care of all of them.
