Elisse Joson said marriage will come at the right time for her and her partner McCoy de Leon, while insisting that they want to keep their romance “private.”

Joson told reporters on the sidelines of a brand launch that she and de Leon want to focus on their three-year-old daughter Felize before deciding to tie the knot.

“It’s gonna come when the timing is right. Pinagpe-pray ko na ngayon, masunod ‘yung, parang tamang pagkakataon and tamang time for it (I’m praying that the right moment and right time will come),” she said when asked about their marriage plans.

“We want to keep our private life private. What you see is what we just want to share,” she added.

Joson also expressed her pride for de Leon’s performance in the action drama “Batang Quiapo,” where the latter stars as the villainous David, saying she couldn’t help but be annoyed with his character as well.

“Nakakainis siya in a way na nakaka-proud because he has come such a long way,” she said. “Actually, napag-uusapan namin [‘yung acting because] it helps us both. Minsan, naga-ask ako sa kanya, ‘Anong ginawa mo doon. Paano mo ginawa ‘yun?’ Kasi nakakabilib din [for me] as an audience.”

(He annoys me in a way that I can’t help but be proud of him. He has come such a long way. We talk about acting because it helps us both. I sometimes ask him, “What did you do? How did you do that?” Because his acting amazes me too as an audience.)

Earlier this year, Joson confirmed that she and de Leon are “healed” after they went through a rough patch in 2023.

The actress also admitted that she sometimes gets “stressed” when asked about moving their relationship forward. She said the two of them want to focus on strengthening their “foundation” as a couple before committing to marriage.
