After skipping 2023, the Miss World Philippines pageant returns this year, and has already announced a coronation schedule on July 19, with familiar faces set to grace the pageant stage.

“Witness the crowning of a new set of queens, as Exceptionally Empowered Filipinas rise to shine! The Miss World Philippines 2024 Coronation Night will be on July 19, 2024, Friday. 8PM at the Mall of Asia Arena. Don’t miss the spectacular event!” the national pageant organization said on social media.

The last time the national organization mounted a national competition was in 2022, with Gwendolyne Fourniol taking home the top title. But because the Miss World pageant kept on postponing its 71st edition, she also had to wait for her turn to crown her successor.

The international competition was eventually held in March in India, with Czech beauty Krystyna Pyskova winning the crown. Fourniol qualified for four fast-track challenges—Head-to-Head, Sports, Top Model, and Talent.

The Miss World Philippines Organization (MWPH) held the final screening for its applicants on May 27, with the roster of aspirants including those who have already seen action in different national pageants. Rhiana Agatha Pangindian, who was proclaimed as First Princess in the 2021 pageant, also staged a comeback.

Fresh from their participation in the 2024 Miss Universe Philippines pageant last month, Top 20 finisher Patricia Bianca and contestant Dia Maté continue their quest for a national title and can now call themselves as official Miss World Philippines candidates.

Binibining Pilipinas semifinalists Jeanne Isabelle Bilasano and Jasmine Omay have also signed up for the Miss World Philippines pageant, along with reigning Miss Manila Gabrielle Lantzer who is set to relinquish her city crown this month.

The applicants who passed the screening will be joined by the titleholders from the MWPH partners in several provinces and overseas Filipino communities in competing for three national titles. Aside from the Miss World Philippines crown, the competition will also award the Reina Hispanoamericana Filipinas and Miss Philippines Tourism titles.

There have been no information when the 72nd Miss World pageant will take place, where Fourniol’s successor will compete and try to become the second Filipino woman to bring home the crown, following Megan Young who won in 2013.

The Philippines has also recorded one win in the Reina Hispanoamericana pageant through Teresita Ssen “Winwyn” Marquez in 2017. Several other delegates finished as runners-up, including reigning national queen Michelle Arceo.
