Albert Martinez looked back on his memories with his late dad Bert Martinez, whom he fondly calls “Papang,” days after the latter died.

Bert’s passing was announced through Albert’s official Facebook page on Tuesday, May 21.

“We announce the passing of our dearest ‘Papang,’ Alberto Dante Garcia Martinez, who joined our creator on May 20, 2024. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, cousin, and friend, and he will truly be missed,” the post read.

“Thank you for understanding as we spend a moment with family during this difficult time,” it added.

No cause of death was immediately disclosed.

The actor paid tribute to his dad through a video compilation shared via his Instagram page on Wednesday, May 22. The clip features moments showing the closeness between the father and son.

“Tears in heaven,” he captioned his post, whose comments section was filled with condolences from fellow celebrities.

Bert’s wake was held until Thursday, May 23. Among the celebrities who visited the wake was Coco Martin, who worked with Albert in the ABS-CBN TV series “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.”

Bert was also an actor who starred in several films in the 1960s. Aside from Albert, Bert has three more children, namely actor William, Ronnie and Bernadette Martinez.
