Days before Miss Universe Philippines 2023 Michelle Dee crowns her successor at the finals night on May 22, pageant fans are already storming social media spaces to declare their support for their bets.
And as we are about to hail our country’s representative in the international competition, here’s what we know so far about the coronation night:
Aside from the next titleholder, netizens are also looking forward to meeting the new bearers of the four more crowns being vied for, namely Miss Supranational Philippines, Miss Charm Philippines, Miss Eco International Philippines and Miss Cosmo Philippines.
The preliminary challenges—runway challenge, swimsuit challenge, and up close and personal interview challenge—have each given the 53 aspirants the platform to showcase what they can offer, with frontrunners Ma. Ahtisa Manalo of Quezon Province and Alexie Mae Brooks of Iloilo City as the consistent delegates cementing their names on the top spots.
Also among the names that are making noise in the challenges and other pre-pageant activities are Rizal’s Stacey Gabriel, who won big at the swimsuit challenge event, Filipino community in Southern California’s Jet Hammond, Tacloban City’s Tamara Ocier, Filipino community in Hawaii’s Patricia Bianca Tapia, Quirino’s Stephanie Faye Gerona, Filipino community in Florida’s Matea Mahal Smith, Leyte’s Angel Rose Tambal, Cavite’s Die Mate and Taguig City’s Christi McGarry—the friend and “anointed one” of Miss Universe 2015 titleholder Pia Wurtzbach.
The candidates are set to parade their beauty once again at the preliminary competition at Fiesta Pavilion of The Manila Hotel on Sunday, May 19, which will be hosted by Dee and actor Marco Gumabao.
The much-awaited event will be held on May 22, 8 p.m., at the SM Mall of Asia Arena, with Miss Universe 2022 R’Bonney Gabriel, Emmy-winning host Jeannie Mai, Tim Yap, and actors Alden Richards and Gabbi Garcia as hosts.
Among the highlights of the show are its guest performers pop band Lola Amour, drag queen Marina Summers and Thai actor Win Metawin.
