Coleen Garcia defended her husband Billy Crawford from speculations about his condition after a video of the latter’s “sickly” appearance made rounds, with the actress-host saying he’s “healthier than ever.”

Garcia said in an interview with ABS-CBN News on May 14 that people are “used to seeing celebrities made up” that their real-life appearances might come as a surprise to them.

“I just wanted to address it and not draw more attention to it… Kahit noon pa, si Billy may dark circles and ‘yung hair niya medyo nauubos na. But it was never a problem for us. Hindi siya issue para sa amin, hindi namin kinakahiya,” she said.

“Kapag nakikita niyo kaming hindi naka-makeup, malayo talaga compared [sa usual naming itsura].”

(I just wanted to address it and not draw more attention to it. Even before, Billy had dark circles and he’s slowly losing his hair. But it was never a problem for us. It was never an issue for us. We’re not embarrassed by it. If you see us without makeup, it’s really different compared to how you’re used to seeing us.)

“Sa mga concerned kay Billy, he’s more than okay. Payat siya kasi wala na siyang mga bisyo… Sa mga nagsespeculate, tama na,” she said.

“We’re putting it out there and honest kami sa inyo. Sana may mga mag-respect din sa mga sinasabi namin because we wouldn’t lie about something like that.”

Noting he already “quit alcohol [and] smoking,” Garcia said Crawford may seem stressed to others since he had been traveling back and forth for shows abroad.

“Billy used to struggle with alcoholism. He quit alcohol, he quit smoking… He’s healthier than ever,” she said.

“What he’s doing is hard. Every month, he travels. He leaves the country to work, and every time he leaves the country, he does several shows whether in the US or France.”

‘Private’ marriage

Meanwhile, in a separate interview on Luis Manzano’s “Luis Listens’” talk show last May 11, Garcia burst out laughing when asked by Manzano about the speculations that their marriage is on the rocks.

“Baka kasi tahimik kami,” she said, noting that they opt to keep things private.

“Hindi nagkaroon ng time na naghiwalay kami or pahiwalay na kami. Walang naging mabigat na kasalanan sa’kin si Billy. Just to [clarify] any rumors out there.”

(Maybe because we’re quiet about it. We didn’t have a time where we broke up or we’re even on the verge of breaking up. Billy didn’t commit any major sin. Just to clarify any rumors out there.)
