Emmy-award winning presenter Jeannie Mai could not contain her excitement for her first trip to the Philippines, a recent video shared by the Miss Universe Philippines 2024 pageant online showed.

“Hi everybody, it’s Jeannie Mai here, and I’m so excited. I’m coming to the Philippines for my very first time,” the Hollywood host said in a video posted on the Miss Universe Philippines social media accounts on Tuesday evening, May 14.

Mai, best known for the reality makeover show “How Do I Look?” and who has appeared in several editions of the Miss Universe pageant, will be one of the hosts of the 2024 Miss Universe Philippines coronation show at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City on May 22.

“I’m wearing Filipino designers, baby. You already know what it is. So please come through, May 22nd, I can’t wait to see you. Hanggang sa muli (Until next time),” she said, punctuating it by blowing a kiss to the camera.

While it’s not immediately known which Filipino designers will dress up the veteran host and presenter, avid pageant fans remember Mai uttering “yellow is the color of joy and celebration” while doing her fashion commentaries on the Miss Universe pageant — a line that has stuck among followers of beauty contests ever since.

Sharing hosting chores with Mai will be 2022 Miss Universe R’Bonney Gabriel, and Kapuso leading man Alden Richards who returns for the second year in a row. Also staging a comeback is “eventologist” Tim Yap, while Kapuso actress Gabbi Garcia makes her national pageant debut as one of the hosts.

Thai superstar Win Metawin is also scheduled to make an appearance as a special guest in the coronation show, with “Drag Race UK vs the World” season 2 finalist Marina Summers and Filipino pop band Lola Amour also performing.

Fifty-three ladies are competing to inherit the Miss Universe Philippines crown from reigning queen Michelle Marquez Dee. The country’s representatives to the upcoming edition of Miss Cosmo pageant this October and the Miss Supranational, Miss Charm, and Miss Eco International competitions next year will also be chosen from among the delegates.
