Yllana Marie Aduana is set to relinquish her Miss Philippines Earth title to her successor tonight, and she shared the qualities she is looking for in the woman she would want to inherit the crown.
“I wish to see someone who’s hardworking, committed and purposeful. To wear this crown is not an easy task, believe me. It’s far from being a walk in the park,” she said in an emotional social media post on May 10.
The medical laboratory scientist said she hopes to crown somebody who is “genuinely a good person, touchable, humble and kind to all people of different walks of life, can smile through it all, the pain, hardships, exhaustion, and challenges presented along the journey.”
Aduana, who was also crowned Miss Earth-Air at the 2023 Miss Earth pageant in Vietnam in December, added, “It’s not the crown’s gems and stones that will make the journey gleam and shine. It’s the QUEEN who will wear it that will make it beam and twinkle with so much light, productivity, fulfillment, and gratification from the people she is able to inspire through her smile, relatability, and genuine kindness.”
She also waxed emotional as she reminisced on her reign as Miss Philippines Earth. “Today, I am feeling extra sentimental. I am now at our rehearsals. I’m crying! One day before I relinquish my dream crown. [W]ow what a year it was. [I’m] not sure if [I’m] ready emotionally to let it go because we’ve been through the highest highs and amazing lows together,” Aduana said.
But at the media conference with the 2023 Miss Earth winners held at Brittany Hotel in Bacoor, Cavite, on May 7, Aduana shared what she intends to do after relinquishing her national title. She was reunited with her international sisters—Miss Earth Drita Ziri, Miss Earth-Water Do Thi Lan Ahn and Miss Earth-Water Cora Bliault—at the event.
“I’ll still be the reigning Miss Earth-Air. So I still got how many months with Carousel Productions (pageant organizer) and the Miss Earth Organization. But after that, I’m gonna have to be focusing on stabilizing my career outside of pageantry,” Aduana said.
“I’m gonna go into show business. I’m actually very excited. And continue with my advocacy, since I still have my nonprofit organization. You know, the projects, the initiatives, the works are still ongoing. And it’s only gonna be strengthened even more, even after I pass on the crown,” she continued.
She will be joined by her 2023 Miss Earth sisters as she crowns her successor at the coronation show of the national pageant that will be held in the town of Talakag in the province of Bukidnon on May 11. The ceremonies will be streamed real time on the Miss Philippines Earth Facebook page and YouTube channel.
