Lola Amour, Tony Labrusca to heat up national pageant scene
Miss Universe Philippines (MUPH) has just announced that pop band Lola Amour will join its lineup of celebrity guests for the 2024 coronation show, while Tony Labrusca will grace a preliminary event of the Miss Philippines Earth pageant.
“We [heart emoji] LOLA AMOUR! The band behind the hit, Raining in Manila, will be our Guest Performer at The Coronation of Miss Universe Philippines 2024!” MUPH posted on social media. The finale show, presented by Bingo Plus, will be held at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City on May 22.
Filipino drag superstar Marina Summers, “RuPaul’s Drag Race UK vs the World” season 2 finalist, was earlier announced as a guest performer in the show, too, with 2022 Miss Universe R’Bonney Gabriel as host.
Lola Amour joins a growing list of young Filipino musical acts featured at the Miss Universe Philippines stage. JM Bales shot to fame when he debuted “Magandang Dilag” in 2020, while Sam Concepcion and Michael Pangilinan performed at the 2021 program.
In 2022, Filipino-American singer and “American Idol” alumnus Francisco Martin came to the Philippines to release an original composition just for the pageant, while last year’s contest saw his fellow “Idol” alumna Jessica Sanchez belting on stage.
