Raymond King, bassist of the indie-rock band Lola Amour, announced his departure from the group, saying he will be pursuing “long-term plans” which, sadly, the band is not part of.

King disclosed this in a statement released through Lola Amour’s Facebook page on Wednesday, March 27.

“The band was just a hobby when we were starting out. So, we’ve always had other long-term plans for ourselves,” he stated. “And while I’m proud of everything we’ve achieved, my plans stayed the same. Sadly, the band isn’t part of it.”

“After 8 years of giving everything I could, I’ve realized that success, fulfillment, and happiness are different things. Now, I choose to be happy,” he continued. “We’ve reached more than I could have ever dreamed of and I couldn’t think of anyone else I would have done it with.”

The rest of the band then vowed their continued support to King as he does what makes him happy.

“You are a huuuuge reason why we are here where we are today. You know we’re not a cheesy bunch, but saying that ‘we’ll miss you’ is an understatement,” they said.

King is set to stage his last gig with Lola Amour at their album concert on April 13. Musician Manu Dumayas will then take over the bassist role after King’s exit.

Lola Amour is best known for their hit songs “Raining in Manila,” “Fallen” and “…Pwede Ba.” Earlier this year, the indie-rock band also had a surprise performance at the Bulacan concert of British band Coldplay.
