Kim Chiu, who turned 34 last April 19, turned emotional during her birthday special in the noontime show “It’s Showtime” as her co-hosts showed her some love with their messages.
Chiu celebrated her 34th birthday with a fiery production number on the April 27 episode of the noontime show, where she danced to Kelly Clarkson’s “Stronger” and Plumb’s “Beautifully Broken.”
Also part of her dance performance were her sister Lakam, close friend Bella Padilla, and KaladKaren.
After her performance, the actress-host was given a bouquet by her co-hosts Vice Ganda, Anne Curtis, Karylle, Vhong Navarro, Ogie Alcasid, Jhong Hilario, Ryan Bang, Jackie Gonzaga, MC Muah, Lassy, and Ion Perez.

‘Merong darating para sa’yo’
Chiu then started tearing up after Navarro assured her that the right person would come in God’s perfect time while thanking her for her support when he went through tough times.
“Alam ko merong darating para sa’yo sa tamang oras. Kapag-ready ka na, ibibigay Niya ‘yan sa’yo,” Navarro said, while Chiu was seen wiping her tears. “Pero salamat, Kimmy, kasi noong down ako, nandoon ka.”
“May mga request ako sa’yo, binigay mo, na dapat hindi mo na kailangan gawin. Pero dahil nanatili yung pagkakaibigan natin, nand’un ka to support me. Anytime na kailangan mo ako, nandito lang ako.”
(I know the right person will come at the right time. When you’re ready, He will give it to you. But thank you, Kimmy. When I was down, you were there. I had requests that you fulfilled — even if you didn’t have to. But since our friendship remained, you were there to support me. Whenever you need me, I’ll be there.)
Kim’s ‘newfound sister’
Meanwhile, Curtis referred to Chiu as her “newfound sister” who shared the similar “OA” (or overacting) traits as hers.
“To my newfound sister, sa pagiging team OA natin. OA sa iyakan, OA sa sayawan, kantahan, everything, to becoming dancing sisters. I just want you to know that aside from your Ate Lakam, I will also be here as an ate for you,” Curtis told Chiu.
‘Ipaglalaban kita’
But the “Linlang” star couldn no longer hold back her tears when Vice Ganda assured her that he would always make an effort to remind her that she is loved by the people around her.
“Happy, happy birthday. Mahal na mahal kita. Hangga’t kaya ko, ipaparamdam ko sa’yo ‘yun. Gusto kong maramdaman mo na minamahal ka. Kasi masarap sa pakiramdam yun, eh. Gusto kong maramdaman mo yung sarap ng pakiramdam na ‘yun ulit,” he said.
(Happy, happy birthday. I love you so much. I will do my best to remind you that as much as I can. I want you to feel loved because it feels so nice. I want you to feel that joy of being loved again.)
Vice Ganda, whose eyes seemed watery as well, said Chiu is worth loving and supporting while reminding her to not be scared of whatever comes in her life.
“Hindi matatapos na mararamdaman mo na minamahal ka, kasi kamahal-mahal ka, at mahal kita talaga… Susuportahan kita lagi. Ipagtatanggol kita,” he said. “Tsaka, huwag kang magpapatalo sa takot. Normal lang naman na natatakot, pero huwag kang magpa-overcome sa takot, okay?”
“You may not know what the future holds. But of course, you know who holds the future. Kaya hindi ka nila masisira. Kasi protektado ka ng Diyos,” he continued before giving Chiu a hug.
(We will not stop from making you feel loved because you’re worth loving. I really love you. I will always support you. I will defend you. And don’t be too consumed by your fears. It’s okay to be scared but don’t be too overcome by it, okay? You may not know what the future holds. But of course, you know who holds the future. They will never destroy you because the Lord is protecting you.)
Chiu also received video messages from her father William, loved ones, industry friends, and her “What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim?” leading man Paulo Avelino in the episode.
The actress came from a long-term relationship with Xian Lim, with their split confirmed by the ex-couple in December 2023. The actor is rumored to be dating film producer Iris Lee, although both parties have yet to confirm the allegations, as of this writing.
