Leon Barretto on being protective of his sisters: It’s my job
Leon Barretto opened up about being the “protector” of his siblings including older sister Julia Barretto, saying he regards it as his “job” be3ing the only man in their family.
Leon spoke about this during an interview with Julia in the morning talk show “Magandang Buhay” on Friday, April 19.
The topic was brought up after show host Jolina Magdangal asked the actress what she felt after Leon “stood up” for his siblings.
While Magdangal did not mention any incident in particular, it can be recalled that Leon stepped up for his sisters Julia and Claudia in 2022 as he addressed their father Dennis Padilla over the actor’s “public shaming” of them.
“[I feel] grateful, of course, because all throughout parang wala namang naging protector for me so technically parang that was the first time that somebody stood up for me—and it was Leon pa,” Julia told Magdangal.

When asked what prompted him to feel the need to step up, Leon said, “As the only boy in the house, I felt like it was my job also to stand up for my sisters naman.”
“Because my sisters naman, they really don’t want issues naman. At the end of the day, they just really want peace,” he continued. “Sometimes, I feel like you just have to stand up for yourself but I wanted to do that for them.”
Magdangal alongside show hosts Regine Velasquez and Melai Cantiveros then commended Leon for his sense of responsibility, saying the siblings’ mom, Marjorie Barretto, surely felt delighted and relieved over the relationship her children has.
Meanwhile, Leon and Padilla have been seemingly working on mending their relationship as the former was earlier seen responding to the actor’s birthday greeting.
