Julia Barretto‘s upcoming series, “Secret Ingredient,” has just released its official trailer, with her character Maya showing determination to compete in a cooking competition to help pay off debts and her mother’s medical bills, while wanting to move up the career ladder.

Maya is told by her boss Arif (Nicholas Saputra) that she doesn’t have what it takes to “compete at that level,” which ultimately led her to seek help from Ha-joon (Lee Sang-heon) and her other friends to raise money.

FEATURED STORIES

Despite the initial doubt, Arif warms up to Maya’s hardworking disposition, much to the chagrin of Ha-joon. As the three of them go through the motions of working in a kitchen, it is discovered that Ha-joon is a wealthy socialite in disguise.

The confused Maya then asked her Korean friend if his desire to help her was just a “publicity stunt,” but it was later revealed the latter was on a quest to reconnect with his first love.

The six-episode “Secret Ingredient” is directed by Jo Young-gwang and written by Baek Dong-hoon. The series will premiere on April 30.

In a past interview, Barretto was praised by Lee for her professionalism in pushing through with filming her scenes “perfectly” while dealing with a seafood allergy.
