The 2024 Miss Universe Philippines pageant takes a fabulous spin with Filipino international drag superstar Marina Summers set to perform at the final competition show next month.

“Universe, it’s SUMMERtime,” the national pageant organization posted on social media. “The Icon Diva Superstar and International Drag Race Superstar, MARINA SUMMERS, will heat up, burn up, and bring the house down at The Coronation of Miss Universe Philippines 2024 on May 22,” the post continued.

Summers has just finished a phenomenal run in “RuPaul’s Drag Race UK vs the World” where she scored three Lip Sync for the World wins, and advanced to the final round of four.

“With this guesting, we’re all winners, baby [three nail polish emojis],” the Miss Universe Philippines social media post said, also informing the public that they may now buy tickets to the coronation show to be held at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

No other guest performers aside from Summers have been revealed as of the time of posting. The national pageant organization also has not mentioned who the hosts will be and who will make up the selection committee.

This year’s pageant will choose Michelle Marquez Dee’s successor from among 53 aspirants representing different cities, towns, provinces, and overseas Filipino communities. This is the fifth edition of the national competition, with the first staging done in 2020.

The eventual winner of this year’s contest will represent the Philippines in the 73rd Miss Universe pageant to be held in Mexico later this year, and try to inherit the international title from reigning queen Sheynnis Palacios, the first Nicaraguan woman to earn the crown.

The Philippines has produced four Miss Universe winners to date—Gloria Diaz (1969), Margie Moran (1973), Pia Wurtzbach (2015) and Catriona Gray (2018).
