Karylle denied that there’s any ill feelings between “It’s Showtime” hosts Kim Chiu and Vice Ganda and Janella Salvador following their viral exchange on the noontime show where the latter declined a request for her to sing a portion of her new album.

During an episode of Magic 89.9 Good Times, Karylle at the same time defended Salvador by saying there was a behind-the-scene context behind her reply to Chiu’s song request, “Medyo paos ako ngayon, kayo na lang” (My voice is a little hoarse today, you guys do it instead).

“Janella is gonna have a concert very soon and she has a movie with Win of BrightWin, and they were promoting that and she’s promoting her concert. But it’s just that, Janella is not feeling so well and she’s preparing for her big concert and since she’s been doing movie press, siguro she’s not been able to rest and recover properly,” she said.

“We just asked her to do a sample but she wasn’t ready for it. Obviously she wants to be in tip-top shape for her concert so it was just a little moment, her joke. Maybe to some people online they thought it meant something, but she just couldn’t sing at that moment,” Karylle added.

Furthermore, Karylle said Salvador’s “Kayo na lang” remarks directed towards Chiu and fellow host, Anne Curtis, had to do with her acknowledgement that the two “It’s Showtime” hosts are also good singers in their own rights, thus, they should also sing.

“Janella explained that what she meant by ‘kayo na lang’ kasi prior to that interview with Janella and Win, there was a moment when Kim Chiu and Anne Curtis did ‘Gusto Ko Nang Bumitaw,’ so what she meant, ‘You guys sing so well.’ So that’s why she said ‘Kayo na lang.’ That’s what she meant. She had to explain that was her reference,” she shared.

Vice Ganda’s shade

As for Vice Ganda’s seeming shade on Salvador’s remarks, Karylle said that “she (Vice Ganda) missed that moment,” adding that the comedian “was late and wasn’t able to witness the exchange.”

In the video that made the rounds online, Chiu asked the “Killer Bride” actress to do a “sample” of her new song, but Salvador remarked that her voice was not in good condition. The video also showed Chiu appearing a bit nonplussed by Salvador’s remarks.

After the interview, Vice Ganda seemingly took a dig at Salvador when he repeated the “Under Parallel Skies” actress’ words on the show’s segment “EXpecially for You,” when a contestant also didn’t want to do a “sample.”

When the exchanges made the rounds of social media, Salvador’s statement raised a few eyebrows, with some painting her as “rude,” while there were those saying Vice Ganda’s shade further put Salvador “in a bad light.”

Salvador has already broken her silence on the gaffe, warning the bashers “not to drag his son into the issue” while thanking the fans who defended and spoke on her behalf.
