Darren Espanto says Cassy Legaspi is just his ‘best friend’

Darren Espanto finally clarified the real score between him and Cassy Legaspi, who he said he is “best friends” with, a kind of bond “not a lot of people” would understand.
Espanto reiterated his platonic relationship with Legaspi in a TV Patrol interview aired on Monday, April 8, when asked about the real score between them.
“Makulit sila. Sabi namin, best friends lang kami ni Cassy. Best friends talaga (People are too nosy. Cassy and I are best friends. We’re just best friends). It’s something a lot of people won’t get,” he said.
The singer-host admitted it’s hard to delve deeper into his friendship in a way that outsiders would understand but he nonetheless stressed they have love for each other.
“Hindi ko alam paano i-explain pero siyempre, nand’un ang pagmamahal namin para sa isa’t isa (I don’t know how to explain this but of course, our love is there for each other),” he said.
When asked if Espanto and Cassy are open to taking their relationship to the next level, he briefly said it’s not the right time.
“Not right now,” he said.
Espanto and Legaspi, known together as “CassRen,” have been straightforward about their friendship on multiple occasions.
In a press conference for the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2023 entry “When I Met You in Tokyo,” they admitted their relationship is “special” but there’s nothing more between them.
