While going out of town is always an attractive way to spend Holy Week, some celebrities are opting to just stay in Manila to avoid the mad holiday rush and take advantage of the rare few days of quiet in the city.

Here’s how the stars of the GMA 7 drama series “Makiling” plan to spend and observe Holy Week:

I’m still deciding whether we should go to Siargao, climb a mountain or enjoy the traffic-free city. But usually, I just rest, bond with my family and do a social media fast.

We will just spend Holy Week at home with my family. We can’t afford to join the big crowds at churches and staycation places. So we will just relax and bond together. We will abstain from eating meat.

I plan to spend time with my family and, of course, reflect, meditate and pray. I have been busy with taping for “Makiling,” so I will be taking time to rest.

My family and I also always visit Padre Pio’s chapel and listen to preaching from The Feast. We also spend time praying together, being filled with gratitude. These traditions help us connect with our faith and reflect on the meaning of Holy Week and with our relationship with God.

I usually go on a vacation with my family because Holy Week is the only time in which our schedules align. We go to church, go on a Visita Iglesia, then spend some time on the beach.

We usually go on a Visita Iglesia every year, but this time will be different. I will be spending Holy Week in Japan with some of my friends.
