Mark Escueta suffers knee injury, fractured rib after bike accident

Rivermaya musician Mark Escueta sustained injuries including a fractured rib after he was hit by a motorcycle while riding his bike.
Escueta showed himself lying in a hospital bed and getting checked after the accident, through his Facebook page on Tuesday, March 12.
“Ako ang hari ng saklay! (I’m the king of clutches!)” he quipped. “Alas, the unfortunate has happened.”
“Sunday, around 11:30 a.m., I was rear-ended by a motorcycle about 1 km from home,” he narrated. “Small fracture on my right knee, and [one] fractured rib. Injuries from me hitting the ground.”
Escueta lamented how the rear part of his bike was wrecked, but he underscored he is still grateful that he did not sustain worse injuries.
“While on the ground, may lumapit agad at nag pakilala na doctor siya. Chineck niya ako at sinabi na mukhang di naman sobrang lala ng injuries ko, based on his initial assessment. Laking bagay para gumaan yung loob ko,” he stated. “Thank you Papa Jesus for sending him.”
(While on the ground, someone who introduced himself as a doctor approached me. He checked on me and said that based on his initial assessment, my injuries were not severe. It helped me feel relieved. Thank you Papa Jesus for sending him.)
The musician, who couldn’t take a step using his right foot, was assisted by bystanders to the side of the road. He then called his wife, actress-TV host Jolina Magdangal, and a friend who works at a hospital, where he was rushed to.
“Thank you Mahal, Pele [and] Vika for taking care of me here at home,” he continued, referring to their children. “Pinauwi naman ako kaagad (I was immediately sent home), no need to be admitted.”
“Pahinga muna ako (I’ll just rest along with Rivermaya) for a few weeks… Please pray for my full recovery. Before drumming, biking was my first love,” he shared. “Ride safe, mga kapatid (brothers)!”
Escueta also clarified in the comments section that the rider who hit him stopped after the incident and helped the musician.
