Donita Rose’s husband Felson Palad did not bother to correct or deny the statements made by his wife that he was a virgin when they got married, saying it was part of his vow to uphold the “sanctity of the marital bond.”

On Instagram, Palad came out with a lengthy statement admitting he was partly amused by the fact that of all the things that the former MTV VJ said in her recent interview with Boy Abunda, the topic of his being a virgin and celibate prior to their marriage made the news and became the highlight of social media circles.

Palad said further that the main point of Donita’s statement, which they meant to send out to everyone, especially the youth, was to underscore the importance of celibacy in marriage.

“Her interview was not only entertaining but also inspiring, eliciting diverse responses from various audiences. While sifting through the comments on YouTube and feedback from individuals who admire my wife, I observed that many writers across different blogs, newspapers and networks highlighted her statement from the interview concerning her prayer for a virgin husband,” he remarked.

“Yes, I was indeed a virgin when my wife and I tied the knot. While some might doubt my claim, I do not aim to prove my virginity; that would be irrelevant. I married Dee at the age of 38. I openly acknowledge that I had my share of youthful indiscretions, but one thing I upheld was the sanctity of the marital bond,” he remarked.

Educating the youth

Palad said that it is their gift to have the chance to educate people, especially the youth on the “confines of marriage.”

“My wife and I have been engaging with various churches on this topic, with prior approval from the pastors to share this aspect of our story. We firmly believe in educating the youth about the sacred and blessed nature of sex within the confines of marriage, recognizing it as a divine gift,” he said.

He said further that it wasn’t his wife intention to put him in a shameful position as Donita just wanted to share her experience.

“I kindly request that if you find my wife’s statement discomforting, please refrain from criticism. She did not intend to embarrass me; rather, she spoke the truth and depicted our marriage and faith in God with integrity. Our ultimate aspiration is for others to witness the faithfulness of God in our lives,” he explained.

Palad said they will take the spotlight as an opportunity to advocate for their religious beliefs and experiences of marriage despite some of the “ridicule” he received because of it.

“The reactions from people, including family and friends, were mixed, with some expressing admiration, some concern, and some even ridiculing me through private messages. However, both my wife and I firmly believe that she articulated her thoughts appropriately for the occasion. We view this as an opportunity to share the gospel and the goodness of God through our personal testimonies, especially targeting the younger generation,” he explained.
